Life Saving Incident

On March 11, 2025 Springfield Officer Keagan Graves, Zane Steel and DJ Mumaw responded to a scene at a local establishment involving a stabbing victim. While responding they were informed that the victim was an employee of the establishment and was inside suffering from his injuries. when they arrived at the scene Officers Mumaw and Steel immediately retrieved a medical bag while Graves entered the establishment. Upon entering they were confronted with a chaotic scene involving many altercations which were occurring. However, the officers focused on the critically injured stabbing victim. Officer Graves located two stab wounds which were resulting in significant pain and causing the victim to have difficulty breathing. The officers retrieved two "chest seals" from the medical bag and applied them to the victim. Graves continued to speak with the victim to keep him alert and to benefit the victim's breathing. The victim was removed to the parking lot area which also had a large degree of chaos occurring. The officers remained focused, ensuring the critically injured victim was stabilized. Ultimately EMTs arrived and transported the victim to a hospital. The hospital staff stated that the quick actions of the officers saved the life of the stabbing victim. The Officers were commended for their professionalism, dedication and courage in saving the life of another.

The history of law enforcement in the United States is a long and wonderful history of bravery. This website is dedicated to documenting the heroic deeds of law enforcement officers throughout the United States who have either given or risked their lives to save others. There are many stories of bravery and heroism for many who are considered first responders. However, it is those in law enforcement who are most likely to be the first to arrive upon a location requiring life saving acts engaging dangerous hostage takers, running into burning buildings/vehicles, providing first aid to seriously injured victims, saving near drowning victims and much more are what the women and men of law enforcement do routinely and at many times, great peril to their own safety.
It is our mission to document the history of lives saved by those dedicated women and men in law enforcement. To share with others the dramatic deeds of those individuals who are the first, first responders. It is so important for our citizens to understand that law "enforcement" is not always about enforcing the law but rather being there when our citizens need us.
It is to this end we are dedicated to promoting documentation regarding the history of law enforcement and the lives they have saved.
