On February 21, 2019, Officer Joseph Coleman was at a traffic light when a family rushing to a hospital got his attention. The panicked mother stated they needed his help because their baby girl was not breathing. After pulling out of traffic Officer Coleman sprang into action. "I put the baby in rescue position, patted its back a few times. It seemed to start sputtering up and breathing a little better," recalled Officer Coleman. "I didn't know what to do but stare and just say 'Please, please, please!' He did an awesome job," said the baby’s mother. The father echoed those sentiments. "He did absolutely great. He did everything he was supposed to do. It only took a couple of seconds for her to start breathing." Coincidentally, an ambulance was heading in that direction at the time and EMS got them to the hospital. Officer Coleman says he's never experienced anything like that in his two years on the force. "30 seconds before, I was sitting at a red light waiting for it to go green," he said. "It's something on our job. You never know what's going to happen and when it's going to happen." The parents have nothing but gratitude. "We cannot thank him enough. We don't know how to repay him. There are not enough thank yous." Officer Coleman said, "I would not consider myself a hero at all. I did what any other officer would have done in that position."

The history of law enforcement in the United States is a long and wonderful history of bravery. This website is dedicated to documenting the heroic deeds of law enforcement officers throughout the United States who have either given or risked their lives to save others. There are many stories of bravery and heroism for many who are considered first responders. However, it is those in law enforcement who are most likely to be the first to arrive upon a location requiring life saving acts engaging dangerous hostage takers, running into burning buildings/vehicles, providing first aid to seriously injured victims, saving near drowning victims and much more are what the women and men of law enforcement do routinely and at many times, great peril to their own safety.
It is our mission to document the history of lives saved by those dedicated women and men in law enforcement. To share with others the dramatic deeds of those individuals who are the first, first responders. It is so important for our citizens to understand that law "enforcement" is not always about enforcing the law but rather being there when our citizens need us.
It is to this end we are dedicated to promoting documentation regarding the history of law enforcement and the lives they have saved.
